Justice News Anhui, May 23rd (Communicator: Ruiyun Wang, Weiwei Jiang) - Recently, the Guzhen County Procuratorate in Anhui Province reviewed and approved the arrest of a suspect charged with intentional homicide. This case, which dates back seventeen years, has now been solved.
Suspect Li Ping, born in 1964, resided in Central Village, Hugou Town, Guzhen County. His wife, Ms. Liu, had suffered from mental illness for many years and was unable to take care of herself. Li Ping grew increasingly annoyed and frequently beat and scolded his wife. On the evening of September 2nd, 1994, around 9 PM, upon returning home, Li Ping noticed a man running out of his house. Suspecting an affair between his wife, Ms. Liu, and the man, coupled with long-standing resentment, he rushed into the bedroom and began beating Ms. Liu's head and face with his fists while she lay on the bed. He continued until he realized that Ms. Liu had stopped breathing. After confirming her death, fearing discovery, Li Ping used a bicycle to transport Ms. Liu's body to a well in a neighboring village where he threw her body down the well. The following night, worried about the body floating up, he filled a snake skin bag with bricks and soil and threw it into the well, attempting to weigh down the body. On September 7th, Ms. Liu's body was discovered, prompting Li Ping to flee. Under the alias "Yuejin Liu," he worked in Wenzhou until April 27th, 2011. Seventeen years after the crime, thanks to the relentless efforts of the police, Li Ping was finally apprehended.
Further investigation into this case is ongoing.
