Zhang Qianqian is receiving treatment in the hospital.
In August this year, a girl from Zhao County, Hebei Province named Zhang Qianqian was diagnosed with acute leukemia just 12 days after starting her first job after graduation. Upon hearing the news, her alma mater - Chongqing University of Technology - quickly initiated a charity donation campaign on campus to help their alumna.
On October 4th, college leaders personally visited Zhang Qianqian who was hospitalized in Shijiazhuang and handed over more than 100,000 yuan in donations to her.
However, when doctors were preparing for a bone marrow transplant, they discovered that Qianqian had been adopted by her father seven days after birth. Now, Qianqian's adoptive father, Zhang Ruizheng, is not only trying hard to raise funds for the next surgery but also anxiously searching for Qianqian's biological parents so that a bone marrow match can be made to treat the child.

Diagnosed with Leukemia After 12 Days at Work
Zhang Qianqian, 23 years old, from Nan Zhongma Village, Zhao County, is a student from the Class of 2005 at the Computer College of Chongqing University of Technology. In late July, right after graduation, Qianqian started working at Chongqing Softbo Technology Company. In early August, a red swollen spot appeared on her left calf. Normally healthy, she didn't pay much attention to it initially. Later, bruises began appearing on her limbs, one on her arm being particularly severe. On August 10th, just 12 days into her new job, Qianqian was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia M2 type at the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. Her condition was very serious, and the doctors immediately started chemotherapy to save her life before her family arrived.
On August 12th, considering the convenience of treatment and their financial situation, Qianqian's family transferred her to Heping Hospital in Shijiazhuang for treatment.

Colleagues Donate More Than a Thousand Yuan
When the news of Qianqian's illness reached Chongqing Softbo Technology Company, it deeply moved all the leaders and colleagues. Even though some employees didn't even know what Qianqian looked like, all the employees still decided to contribute wholeheartedly!
Before National Day, Qianqian's company leader came to Shijiazhuang to visit her and brought over a thousand yuan donated by her colleagues. Qianqian said that the kindness of her leader and unfamiliar colleagues made her very grateful. The company leader also told her that they would welcome her back to work after recovery.
Teachers and Students Donate Over 100,000 Yuan
On September 13th, Chongqing University of Technology learned about Qianqian's condition, and the school’s Party leadership stated: "Although Zhang Qianqian has graduated and left the school, as an alumnus and an excellent student, our teachers and students should do everything we can to help her in her current difficult situation..." By September 27th, the entire school had raised a total of 107,450.2 yuan.
On the morning of October 4th, Xu Maohua, the Secretary of the General Branch of the Communist Party of China at the Computer College of Chongqing University of Technology, and others came to Heping Hospital in Shijiazhuang to visit Qianqian and handed over the donation to her. Qianqian was very moved and happy upon receiving the donation, repeatedly thanking Secretary Xu while holding her hand.
Qianqian told reporters that the two months of hospitalization had cost about 80,000 yuan, almost depleting the family's savings and borrowed money. The money given by Secretary Xu was truly a timely rain!
Secretary Xu said that Qianqian was an outstanding party member and good cadre during her time at school, from being the branch secretary to the Minister of Women's Affairs in the Student Union. Her spirit of helping others and sincerely serving her classmates has always been admired by everyone. Last year, during the Wenchuan earthquake, despite not being wealthy herself, Qianqian donated 200 yuan as special party fees. During her schooling, Qianqian had donated blood multiple times without compensation. Now that Qianqian is facing difficulties, Chongqing University of Technology should undoubtedly extend a helping hand.
Secretary Xu expressed that after returning, they would continue to actively call on teachers and students to donate. Meanwhile, the Computer College would also continue to use this opportunity to deepen gratitude education among students, allowing every student to understand gratitude, repay society, and help others.

Condition Stabilized Waiting for Bone Marrow Transplant
Deputy Director Li Dongliang of the Hematology Department at Heping Hospital in Shijiazhuang introduced that Qianqian's first round of chemotherapy had already ended, and her condition had stabilized, allowing her to temporarily return home for recuperation.
At around 6 PM on October 7th, Deputy Director Li informed that Qianqian's HLA typing had come out, and preparations were underway to find a matching HLA donor in the blood bank. Regarding the next peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cell transplantation surgery, two aspects need to be considered. First, if Qianqian's biological parents could be found and a matching HLA donor located, the hope for Qianqian's recovery would significantly increase, with surgical costs controlled around 250,000 yuan. Second, if Qianqian's biological parents cannot be found, then a donor must be sought from the bone marrow bank, which would be more challenging to implement, and the treatment cost would be no less than 350,000 yuan.

Adoptive Father's Determination to Find Biological Parents
Qianqian's father, Zhang Ruizheng, is a fruit farmer from Zhao County, 53 years old. Zhang Ruizheng said that Qianqian was an adopted child. After Qianqian's hospitalization due to the need for a bone marrow transplant, he began searching for her biological parents after discussing with the attending doctor.
Zhang Ruizheng mentioned that there were two intermediaries involved in adopting the child, but the intermediary on the other side could no longer be found. The Zhao County intermediary is now over eighty years old and claims he does not remember the details. At the time, the other side, to avoid family planning policies, entrusted a local intermediary to inquire if anyone wanted a child. This intermediary then contacted the Zhao County intermediary, who was Zhang Ruizheng's fellow villager, leading to Zhang adopting the child. However, Zhang knew nothing about the other side's situation. Therefore, finding Qianqian's biological parents was extremely difficult.
Zhang Ruizheng said that although the intermediary couldn't recall the details, he did not give up for Qianqian's sake. He remembered that when he went to adopt Qianqian, the train stopped short of Xuanhua Station in Shijiazhuang. On August 20th, Zhang directly traveled from Shijiazhuang to Xuanhua, then walked along the railway towards Shijiazhuang, taking public transportation where available or walking door-to-door asking questions. In his memory, the village where he picked up the child was not far from the station. So, Zhang first found the station and then searched for the village nearby. It took him about a week.
Finally, at the Xibaoli Town station, Zhang saw familiar scenery, such as the railway tracks and the appearance of the village. More importantly, near a village called Xiaoyingcun along the Xibaoli railway line, Zhang noticed a concrete platform he had paid attention to twenty years ago when he picked up the child. He was certain that this was the village where he had adopted the child!
Zhang went house by house in Xiaoyingcun, practically questioning every household, but no one could provide a definitive answer. Most residents replied: "I don't know; there doesn't seem to be such a person in the village." However, a couple of older residents mentioned that something similar might have happened, involving an outsider pregnant woman. According to local elders, the pregnant woman probably wasn't from this village but may have been temporarily staying there, and no one knew where she came from.
Zhang Ruizheng said that the child's birth date was on the eleventh day of the seventh lunar month, and the adoption occurred on the eighteenth day of the same month, 23 years ago. Qianqian was only seven days old. Before Qianqian, the woman already had a girl, making Qianqian the second child. Additionally, Zhang Ruizheng recalled glancing at the woman when he received the child and remembering that one of her eyes seemed abnormal, different from a normal person's.
[Calling Out]
Biological Parents, Where Are You?
As the date for the bone marrow transplant approaches, finding Qianqian's biological parents has become Zhang Ruizheng's urgent wish. Zhang Ruizheng said that if he could find the child's relatives and cure the child's disease, as an adoptive father, he would feel no estrangement at all. "If we could find the child's biological parents, we would be happy that the child could gain more family affection."
It is understood that the main source of income for Zhang Ruizheng's family comes from the few acres of fruit trees they grow and the income from his wife working outside. Currently, he has sold all the grain and other sellable items at home, plus these years' savings, totaling 40,000 yuan, combined with social donations, which can still maintain the current situation. But the cost of the bone marrow transplant remains uncertain. Although the road ahead is long, Zhang Ruizheng's face is filled with determination as he firmly stated that no matter what methods are used, he will definitely cure the child's disease.
Facing her increasingly emaciated father, Qianqian feels full of guilt. Qianqian said that lying in bed, apart from enduring the pain of her illness, every time she sees her gray-haired parents selling everything to save her - a child who isn't even their biological daughter - the strong-willed her often quietly sheds tears behind closed doors. "As a farmer, my father is truly great, and I feel very happy. Regardless of whether I can find my biological parents, I will always be grateful to life and society."
