There is a true story that can be listened to as a joke. A long time ago, at the intersection of Shuiyin Road and Shuiyin Horizontal Road, there was a big traffic jam during the rush hours every day. It made the drivers very painful. However, during the period when the traffic lights were broken but there was no traffic jam every day and the cars went smoothly. This is another great good thing for the government to be diligent and love the people and improve Guangzhou's traffic.
However, suddenly I remembered that these expensive road signs must be placed in appropriate places and express the correct meaning, especially before the traffic instruction road signs are hung, it is best to conduct simulation tests, so as not to cause traffic jams and rear-end collisions due to drivers looking at road signs, and not to make everyone be fined two hundred yuan because they did not see the road signs. Whether it is the installation of traffic lights or road signs, it is responsible and wise behavior to conduct research and testing before installation instead of shooting from the hip. In the June 2007 series of reports on "Guangzhou Traffic Longmen Array" in our newspaper's automobile weekly, we reported on the very "humorous" road sign at the intersection of Dongfeng East Road and Nonglinxia Road that prohibits going straight, turning left, and turning right, causing many private cars to fall into the trap, and was rated by netizens as the easiest place to be fined in Guangzhou. After the report was published, the road sign at that location has been improved. Now there are fewer vehicles being fined at that position, and the traffic police don't like to squat there anymore. Then after this huge investment in road sign renovation, can the unreasonable phenomena or loopholes in the road signs on the main trunk roads like Dongfeng Road be eliminated?
An 8,000-yuan road sign is really expensive, because in comparison, two years ago, there was an incident in Guangzhou where 60 newly installed road signs were stolen, and those road signs only cost 3,200 yuan. In fact, for ordinary people, as long as the road signs are clear and the meaning is expressed clearly, it is fine. No matter how expensive the road signs are, if they are placed in inappropriate places, it goes against the purpose of improving traffic and guiding pedestrians and drivers. Therefore, if so much money is spent to upgrade Guangzhou's road signs, it should be more worthwhile to first spend money on simulating the road signs and studying the road conditions, figuring out exactly which road signs in Guangzhou are unreasonable and need to be modified, which need to be removed, and where they need to be added. Fonts, materials, and colors are secondary issues.

In other words, if you do not choose the middle or right lane when entering the tunnel, then according to the ground signs after exiting the tunnel, you can only enter the Inner Ring Road, as solid lines are painted for right lane changes, and there are cameras monitoring after exiting the tunnel. However, many vehicles entering the tunnel want to go up to the Zhongshan Yi overpass or Dongfeng Road after passing through Huangpu Avenue. In such cases, there should be a huge road sign indicating the relationship between lane selection and driving direction before vehicles enter the tunnel, to facilitate drivers.
