Qingdao Enterprise News Network Shandong Channel (Li Yuanqing, Ji Li) At 3:30 PM on May 8th, the Shandong University of Technology Youth League Committee hosted, and the Shandong University of Technology Robot Enthusiasts Association undertook the "Shandong-based Universities Alliance Robot Dance Exchange Competition" Shandong University of Technology Campus Final in the multi-functional hall of the university's art center. The competition was jointly co-organized by relevant student organizations from Shandong University, Shandong Jianzhu University, and China University of Petroleum. Professor Niu Zongwei, a master's supervisor at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Master Li Gang, and Master Chen Qianqian, both postgraduate students in mechanical and electrical control at the School of Mechanical Engineering, were invited as guest judges for this competition. A total of 12 teams from the entire school entered the final after passing through the preliminary rounds.

This robot dance competition mainly relies on a simulated football robot platform, controlling the football robots' dance routines through programming. The dance is primarily divided into mandatory movements and innovative movements. Among them, the mandatory dance movements are specified basic actions that must be performed by 11 robots, such as robots drawing circles while moving around, yoga music, robots forming numbers, and following traction in aesthetically pleasing ways, accompanied by yoga music. The free dance movements depend on each team's imagination, combining many basic movements freely to create an original set of "dance" programs.

During the competition, participants first introduced their team members and design program snippets using multimedia formats such as PPTs and electronic magazines, along with yoga music. They then explained the simulated robot's dance moves and innovation points while synchronizing with dynamic music. On the large screen, colorful "little squares" danced gracefully like little fairies following the music. Sometimes they danced like lovers in a waltz of love, sometimes like martial arts experts showcasing "Kunlun Steps," sometimes forming the shape of jet fighters flying high in the sky, spinning separately at high speed, or rotating while intersecting in a circle... Some contestants even used these "colorful squares" to form shapes like "I Love China" and "Shandong University of Technology." The performances of robots performing "left-right crossover," "following traction," "forming numbers," and "circling around" caused waves of applause from the audience. The interludes during the competition featuring double sticks, songs, and pipa performances further enlivened the atmosphere on site. After the competition, Associate Professor Niu Zongwei commented on the participants' performances. He first acknowledged the works of the participating students and pointed out areas where they could improve in terms of program debugging and action design. He said that since its establishment, the Robotics Enthusiasts Association has won numerous awards at national competitions, accumulating rich experience. He hopes that the students will continue to develop their interests and enrich their college lives by utilizing this excellent development platform.

Finally, Yang Hui's team from the School of Mechanical Engineering won the first prize. This competition provided students with a platform to showcase themselves and hone their skills, enhancing their sense of teamwork and competitiveness. It is reported that the top two winning teams will compete with outstanding teams from Shandong University, Shandong Jianzhu University, and China University of Petroleum in the final round at Shandong University of Technology on May 15th.
