In 2008, a jury investigating the cause of death over a six-month period questioned 250 witnesses and spent approximately 12 million pounds. Their conclusion was that Princess Diana's lover Dodi Al-Fayed and driver Henri Paul were responsible for manslaughter due to drunk driving. The pursuit by photographers was also deemed partially at fault. Al-Fayed had accused Prince Philip of orchestrating the crash in 1997, implicating Prince Charles as well. He claimed the British royal family prevented the wedding between Diana and his son before both were killed.
