You write a blog? Do you know how to keep readers engaged?

What distinguishes a good website from a junk site is that it has a large number of loyal readers. Ordinary visitors may only read one or two articles on your blog before leaving and never coming back. However, loyal readers regularly and systematically read your articles, share them, and enthusiastically leave comments to share their views on the same subject. One of the most important tasks of blogging is to convert as many ordinary visitors as possible into loyal readers. Having 1,000 daily visitors simply means a number in traffic statistics and does not bring any other significance. On the other hand, having 100 loyal readers is different. They will share and spread your articles, leave comments, and boost the popularity of your blog. This is the trade-off between quality and quantity. We can attract loyal readers through the following ways:

1. Be Yourself

This is the most basic condition for writing a blog. However, many bloggers cannot write authentically with their true identity and mindset. Only when you are in a position where you are not forced can you fully express your sincere and desired opinions. For this blog, writing is seen as a way to share viewpoints with friends, striving to express my most genuine thoughts on certain matters without being entertaining or constrained, just to showcase the most authentic self and personal opinions.

2. Prioritize Reading Experience

What makes you return repeatedly to a favorite restaurant? It's not just the food that attracts you but the consistently delicious experience. In situations where there aren't enough good articles, the reading experience for visitors should be improved as much as possible. This means you shouldn't write "junk" articles that don't meet readers' expectations just to fill the void. Good articles attract readers, poor ones drive them away, and not writing anything at all might at least help retain existing readers. It also means not alienating readers for your own benefit. Forced additions can worsen the reading experience and lose readers, such as having too many ads. Therefore, we should look more at well-known blogs, referencing their layouts, styles, navigation bars, etc. Perhaps these blogs became famous not because of the reading experience, but at least their reading experience isn't bad.
