Small常识 on adding fluorine to air conditioners: How to confirm whether the air conditioner needs to be refilled with fluorine? Especially after moving or relocating the air conditioner, cleaning... Users can make their own judgment on whether they need to add fluorine to the air conditioner. The following methods can be used: When adding fluorine to an air conditioner, it must be done slowly. After adding a little, let the air conditioner run for about 10 minutes, then measure the pressure and current again. If not enough, add more in portions. Do not use the current pressure and current as the standard, otherwise, you may have added too much. During winter when adding fluorine to an air conditioner, you can disconnect the four-way valve coil, or manually adjust the indoor temperature sensor to reach a temperature that enables cooling to start the cooling mode. Sometimes you can also run the air conditioner in dehumidification mode, which has less stringent temperature requirements.
(1) Test: After the air conditioner is turned on normally for a period of time, if the wind blowing feels very cool and can quickly reach the set temperature, and the outdoor compressor can operate intermittently like a refrigerator, it can be considered normal.
(2) Measure: Use a thermometer to measure the temperature difference between the air inlet and outlet of the indoor unit. A difference of more than 8℃ is normal, and the greater the difference, the better the air conditioner works. Good ones can reach around 15℃.
(3) Observe: After turning on the machine for more than ten minutes, open the panel of the indoor unit. You should see the evaporator (the component with copper pipes covered by aluminum fins for heat exchange) uniformly covered with condensation water (like dew). This is normal (more during high humidity, less otherwise). If half has it and half doesn't, it might indicate a lack of fluorine. Local frost or ice formation is also abnormal.
(4) Touch: If the outdoor unit is within reach, after turning on the machine for more than ten minutes, touch it with your hand. The outdoor unit has two copper valves, one connected to a thick copper pipe and the other to a thin one. There should be a temperature difference between these two valves; the thick one should be cooler than the thin one, which is normal (there should also be condensation water during high temperatures). Also, feel if the hot air from the outdoor unit is warm. If it's not very warm, there might be a lack of fluorine.
(5) Inspect: For users who have used the air conditioner for more than half a year, check if there are obvious signs of oil leakage at the pipe joints of the indoor unit and the valves of the outdoor unit. If there is obvious oil leakage, it indicates that the machine has a leak, because oil and fluorine are soluble together, so leaking oil means leaking fluorine, and vice versa. In this case, fluorine needs to be added to the air conditioner.
