In May, under the scorching sun, taking the opportunity to visit relatives at home, I went to Beijing with friends, feeling dazzled like Grandma Liu entering the Grand View Garden. Fortunately, a relative accompanied us with a private car, allowing us to feast our eyes. After 7 days of touring, I felt deeply about Beijing:
The arts and culture are long-standing and rich in heritage. We visited China's most prestigious universities: Peking University and Tsinghua University. Their spacious and bright garden-like campuses, densely packed teaching buildings, towering ancient trees visible everywhere, and bustling tourists truly allowed the children to feel the strong cultural atmosphere of Beijing. Strolling through cultural landscapes such as the World Park, Beijing Zoo, Ocean World, Bird's Nest, and Water Cube, one feels a sense of intimacy and awe. The hosting of the 29th Olympic Games has further invigorated this ancient city with vitality.
A short journey, for Beijing's history, is but a fleeting moment in a long river. For me personally, it can only be considered the most beautiful fragment of life. However, the brilliant scenery where ancient and modern Beijing intersect, where fashion elements collide with authentic Beijing flavors, has left an indelible impression on my heart. What I see and feel here is not only the grandeur and majesty of the ancient capital, its deep and solemn presence, but also the splendor and prosperity of a modern metropolis, its rapid development. I wish this historical and cultural famous city a better tomorrow, and our country greater prosperity and strength.
According to archaeologists' research, Beijing not only has over 3000 years of city-building history and 850 years of capital history, but also boasts numerous splendid imperial landscapes and a rich cultural heritage. The world's largest palace - the Forbidden City, Yuanmingyuan, Summer Palace, Great Wall, and Temple of Heaven, etc., have more than 7300 cultural relics and over 200 tourist attractions. The Italian traveler Marco Polo once described in his travelogue the "unparalleled" capital of the Yuan Dynasty as referring to today's Beijing. In February 1912, the last feudal dynasty of China - the Qing Dynasty ended, thus concluding Beijing's history as an imperial capital.
Transportation is extensive, convenient, and fast. Transportation in Beijing is very convenient, with subways, taxis, buses, and tour buses reaching all directions, providing great convenience for people's travel. Although we had a relative's private car accompanying us during our travels, we specifically took the subway from Qianmen to experience Beijing's metro system. In 40 minutes, we completed a loop, casually listening to some strong Beijing accents occasionally drifting into our ears, deeply feeling the joy of traveling in Beijing.
I have never had the chance to go there. As time passes, my dream of visiting Beijing has not faded but instead grown stronger. Because we all know that Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China, a world-famous historical and cultural city, and also the political, economic, transportation, and cultural center of the country. Here, the essence of China's brilliant culture and art is gathered, leaving behind many historical sites and cultural landscapes.
There are numerous grand and magnificent landscapes. We saw the grandiose Tiananmen, Monument to the People's Heroes, visited the Great Hall of the People, paid respects at Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, toured the Forbidden City, Yuanmingyuan, and the Great Wall at Badaling. Under the sunlight, the solemn Tiananmen becomes even more splendid and majestic, while the red walls and yellow tiles of the Forbidden City shine even more brilliantly. The once world-renowned, East-West blended imperial garden Yuanmingyuan has already turned to ashes, only the remains of the Grand Water Law tell us that the rise and fall of the world is everyone's responsibility. The winding and majestic Great Wall allows us to fully experience the passion-filled words personally inscribed by Chairman Mao: "He who does not reach the Great Wall is not a true man."
