1. Tolerance
A little pig, a sheep and a dairy cow were kept in the same cattle pen. One day, the herdsman caught the little pig, which squealed loudly and resisted fiercely. The sheep and the cow got annoyed by its squealing and said, "He often catches us, but we don't scream like that." Hearing this, the little pig replied, "Being caught by him is completely different for you and me. He catches you just for your hair and milk, but when he catches me, it's for my life!"
People with different positions and living environments find it hard to understand each other's feelings. Therefore, instead of rejoicing at others' misfortunes, setbacks or pains, we should care about them and understand their situation. We need to be tolerant!
2. Rely on Yourself
The baby snail asked his mother: Why do we have to carry this heavy and hard shell since we were born?
Mother: Because our bodies lack skeletal support. We can only crawl, and we crawl slowly. So we need the protection of this shell!
Baby snail: Sister caterpillar has no bones either, and she crawls slowly too, why doesn't she have to carry this heavy and hard shell?
Mother: Because sister caterpillar can turn into a butterfly, and the sky will protect her.
Baby snail: But younger brother earthworm also has no bones, he crawls slowly too, and he won't turn into a butterfly, why doesn't he have to carry this heavy and hard shell?
Mother: Because younger brother earthworm can burrow through the soil, and the earth will protect him.
The baby snail cried: We are so pitiful, the sky won't protect us, neither will the earth.
The mother snail consoled him: "That's why we have shells!" We don't rely on heaven or earth; we rely on ourselves.
3. Shark and Fish
Someone once conducted an experiment where they placed the fiercest shark together with a group of tropical fish in the same pool, separated by reinforced glass. Initially, the shark continuously rammed against the invisible glass, all in vain as it could never get to the other side. Every day, the experimenters would put some grass carp in the pool, so the shark wasn’t short of prey, yet it still wanted to go to the other side, trying to taste the beautiful flavors there. Every day, it continued to ram against the glass, testing every corner, using all its strength each time, but always ending up battered and bruised. Many times, it was covered in wounds and bleeding all over, continuing for quite some time. Whenever cracks appeared in the glass, the experimenters immediately replaced it with thicker glass.
Later, the shark stopped ramming against the glass and no longer paid attention to those colorful tropical fish, treating them like moving wall paintings. It began waiting for the daily appearance of the grass carp, then using its sharp instincts to hunt, appearing as fierce and dominant as if back in the sea. But all this was merely an illusion. In the final stage of the experiment, the experimenters removed the glass, but the shark had no reaction. Every day, it swam around in a fixed area, ignoring the tropical fish entirely. Even when the grass carp escaped to the other side, it immediately gave up the chase, refusing to go any further. The experiment ended, and the experimenters mocked it as the most cowardly fish in the sea.
But anyone who has experienced heartbreak knows why - it's afraid of pain.
4. Miracle
In a remote town in France, there was reportedly a particularly miraculous spring that could perform wonders and cure various diseases. One day, a one-legged veteran hobbled down the town road with crutches. A sympathetic townsman said, "Poor guy, does he want to pray to God for another leg?" This remark was heard by the veteran, who turned around and told them, "I'm not praying to God for a new leg, but asking Him to help me learn how to live without one."
Imagine: learning to be grateful for what we've lost, accepting the fact of loss, regardless of the gains and losses in life, always making our lives full of brilliance and splendor, no longer shedding tears for the past, and striving to live out our own lives.
5. Fishing Rod
An old man was fishing by the river when a child walked over to watch him. The old man was very skilled, and it wasn't long before he had filled his basket with fish. Seeing the cute child, the old man decided to give him the whole basket of fish. The child shook his head, surprising the old man, who asked, "Why don't you want it?" The child replied, "I want the fishing rod in your hand." The old man asked, "What do you want the fishing rod for?" The child said, "This basket of fish will be eaten up soon. If I have the fishing rod, I can fish myself and eat forever."
I bet you think: What a smart kid. Wrong. If he only gets the fishing rod, he won't eat a single fish because he doesn't know how to fish. Having just a fishing rod is useless because the important thing in fishing isn't the "fishing rod" but the "fishing skills".
Too many people think they have the fishing rod on the road of life and thus fear nothing from the wind and rain. As a result, they inevitably fall on muddy ground. Just like the child watching the old man, thinking that having a fishing rod means having endless fish, like employees watching the boss, thinking that sitting in the office brings rolling wealth.
