Utopia is humanity's vision of a better society.

Utopia is the most ideal society in human consciousness, akin to early Western "utopian socialism." It was proposed by a Western scholar as an imagined socialist society that is beautiful, where everyone is equal, and there is no oppression. It is like a paradise beyond the mundane world. Utopian love is also extremely beautiful.

Utopianism is a form of social theory that seeks to promote certain desirable values and practices by presenting them within an ideal state or society. Generally, the authors of utopian works do not believe that such a state can be realized, at least not in its perfectly depicted form. However, they are not merely engaging in imagination or fantasy, as the popular usage of the term "utopianism" might suggest. As shown in Plato's *The Republic* (one of the earliest true utopias), the usual aim is to reveal fundamental characteristics of a concept (such as justice or freedom) by expanding on it and constructing an ideal community based on this concept. In other instances, such as in Sir Thomas More's *Utopia* (1516), the main goal is critical and satirical: contrasting the virtuous people of Utopia with the vices of the author's contemporary society to condemn the latter. Only a few utopian writers — Edward Bellamy's *Looking Backward* (1888) being a fine example — have attempted to reform society according to the carefully planned blueprint of their utopia. By its very nature, the function of utopia is inspirational.
