The Temple of Atal'Hakkar, also known as the Sunken Temple, appears like a massive labyrinth upon your first visit, and indeed, there are numerous paths or stairs that will quickly lead you back to the entrance or never get you there at all. In contrast to previous instances, the temple is slightly smaller and does not have a second entrance. However, it can be divided into two sections: the lower level with the Altar of Hakkar and the mysterious snake statues, and the upper level, which is almost exclusively inhabited by dragons.
Quests for both factions:
Almost all quests (except for Jammal'an the Prophet) in this instance require lengthy pre-quest chains and thus cannot be shared. Into the Depths: After completing the Gahz'ridian quest for Marvon Rivetseeker, he gives you, among others, this temple quest. It is the shortest quest for the temple and reveals the solution to the "Secret of the Circle" quest, also obtained from Marvon. Secret of the Circle: Following the Gahz'ridian quest, you also receive this quest, which takes place in the lower part of the temple. To complete it, the six snake statues must be activated in the correct order, and then Atal'Alarion must be defeated. As a reward, a chest containing three pieces of equipment awaits you. The God Hakkar: The pre-quests for the main quest of the temple even extend into another instance. Everything begins in Steamweedle Port in northeastern Tanaris. The troll Yeh'kinya initially tasks you with collecting 3 Screamer spirits. This is followed by the "Prophecy of Mosh'aru" quest in Zul'Farak, where you must obtain two tablets. The third quest in the series is also related to Zul'Farak, as the "Ancient Egg" is located in the cave behind the altar (southwest of Jintha'Alor in the Hinterlands), where you had to forge the hammer to start the Gahz'rilla quest. To complete this quest, you must perform the summoning ritual on the uppermost level of the temple and then defeat the deity. Jammal'an the Prophet: The second main quest, which is linked to the largest part of the temple's tasks, is received from the Atal'ai exile in the southwest of the Hinterlands. It has no pre-quests and can be easily shared. Its execution is described in detail in the lower section due to its length. Essence of Eranikus: This quest starts and ends in the temple. If you manage to defeat the spirit dragon Eranikus (1), you can loot the Essence of Eranikus from his corpse. It starts a quest that can be completed right there in the same chamber. Simply place the essence on the altar at the back of the chamber (8). As a reward, you receive a piece of jewelry that is hardly usable. However, this piece of jewelry is also required to start another quest. With the essence in your inventory, seek out the elf Itharius in the southwest of the Swamp of Sorrows and listen to his story.
Horde Quests:
Zapper Fuel: This quest requires multiple pre-quests. First, you must crush the wandering plants in the Un'Goro Crater on behalf of Larion and Muigin, and then visit Liv Rizzlefix in Ratchet to obtain this quest. The required quest items (Zapper Mist) can be obtained from all standard mobs in the lower section of the temple. As a reward, you receive a Bloodpedal-Zapper, which allows you to destroy any weeds, such as the plants in Un'Goro, with a simple click.
Temple of Atal'Hakkar: This quest is an easy collection quest, but its pre-quest (starting in Stoneard) may take some time. The Atal'ai artifacts from the Tear Pool quest are not easy to find. Some can be found individually along the shore and in shallow areas below the water surface of the Tear Pool. Afterwards, you must bring these to the Atal'ai exile in the Hinterlands and then retrieve the actual temple quest from Fel'zerul in Stonard. The quest items for the temple quest drop from almost every opponent and are easily obtainable within one run.
Alliance Quests:
Into the Temple of Atal'Hakkar: The start of this quest chain can begin as early as level 40. Brohann Caskbelly, the dwarf in the tavern of the Dwarven District in Stormwind, initially sends you out to find the temple itself. This is followed by Rhapsody's Story for Rhapsody Shindigger in the Hinterlands, who subsequently sends you back to Brohann, from whom you receive the actual temple quest. The quest itself can theoretically even be completed without entering the instance, as the Atal'ai Tablets already lean against the walls outside the temple.
Mist of Evil: Like the Horde's Zapper Fuel quest, the Alliance equivalent also originates with Larion and Muigin in the Un'Goro Crater. After collecting 15 Bloodpetal Sprouts, Gregan Brewspewer from Feralas sends you on the temple quest.
