The bilingual Spanish-English courses offered by universities such as Churchman University are highly favored by DuPont.
DuPont is a globally-oriented company based on scientific research, providing scientific solutions that enhance the quality of life in areas such as food and nutrition, health care, clothing, home and construction, electronics, and transportation. Established in 1802, DuPont operates in 70 countries worldwide with more than 79,000 employees.
This traditional industry company, which originally started with the production of gunpowder, has not stopped advancing in today's world. In the United States, DuPont is making efforts to enter the Hispanic market. It is reported that the number of Hispanics in the U.S. is rapidly increasing. A spokesperson for DuPont pointed out: Any strategy that ignores the rapidly growing populations such as Asians and Hispanics would be unwise.
Each year, DuPont arranges for a large number of middle and senior-level managers to enroll in the bilingual Spanish-English business program at Churchman University, with DuPont covering most of the tuition fees. Many European-American employees express strong approval of this arrangement.
Gerard, a sales manager responsible for LYCRA fibers on the U.S. West Coast, stated: "Previously, I was most worried about communicating with Hispanic distributors, but now I actually hope to encounter Hispanic clients." The volume of business in his sales area has increased by 9% compared to the same period last year.
Data shows that sales managers within DuPont who have undergone bilingual Spanish-English training perform on average 7.6% better than those in the same sales regions who have not participated in the training.
A spokesperson for DuPont summarized by saying that this type of on-the-job training translates into over $300 million in direct annual business growth for the company across the entire U.S. market.
