Indigenous Instinct
A group of loggers stationed in an alpine forest, due to the mountainous terrain, experienced great temperature variations. They were also constantly on alert for flash floods caused by heavy rains. These loggers paid considerable attention to climate change. Spending long days in the forest, they gradually became familiar with the local indigenous people. They discovered that the indigenous people had a special instinct that allowed them to accurately predict the weather for the next day. If the indigenous people claimed it wouldn't rain the next day, it would certainly be clear and good weather.
Since then, the loggers stopped listening to the radio forecast and instead consulted the indigenous people about weather changes. The indigenous people also took the trouble to provide accurate forecasts every day. The loggers admired the incredible ability of the indigenous people until one day when the indigenous informed them that they could no longer predict the weather.
The loggers were greatly surprised and asked, "Why can't you do it anymore? Did you lose your ability overnight?"
The indigenous people seriously replied, "We didn't receive... ..."
The loggers, still surprised, asked, "What didn't you receive?"
The indigenous people explained, "Our family's radio antenna was cut by the kids last night, so we couldn't receive... ..."
There are many things where, in the face of similar misunderstandings, we experience confusion over the appearance of things while ignoring the search for the truth behind them. Blind superstition and reliance on authority, forgetting the essence of self-improvement, are worthy of our deep attention.
