The Air Jordan 18 was released in 2003 and served as the Air Jordans for Jordan’s final season (part 3), during which Jordan played for the Washington Wizards. The designer behind the Air Jordan 18 was Tate Kuerbis (Jordan Senior Footwear Designer), a person who had been part of the Jordan footwear design team since 1999 and with Nike since 1995. The design of the Jordan Retro 18 is a combination of several elements: sleek racing lines from the automotive world, carbon fiber-based monocoques from F1 race cars, race car driving shoes (with a rubber heel wrap), and fine Italian dress shoes (featuring bold stitching on the soles).
