Ten small tips to help you master SEO optimization, simple and practical:
1. Update in a timely manner. Information needs to be updated promptly. New things will gradually replace old ones, and no one likes outdated stuff — websites are the same way. Even updating just one image is helpful. Fresh content can improve your rankings. Regularly add new, useful content to your web pages. The addition of fresh content will attract the attention of search engines.
2. Build quality links. Quantity isn't as important as quality. A single good, authoritative link is better than dozens of poor-quality links. If there’s no logical reason, avoid having bad websites link to you.
3. SEO is not a one-time job. Search engines are constantly being updated and changing. You need to persist with SEO optimization daily.
4. Focus on one keyword group per page. It's best not to try optimizing multiple keywords for one page; doing too much may lead to less-than-desired results.
5. Pay attention to search phrases, not just individual keywords. Include your geographical location in the text if applicable.
6. Be sure to use keywords when linking to your site. In other words, if your target is “blue widget,” then the link text should read “blue widget” instead of “click here.”
7. If you must make your homepage flashy by using all Flash or a large image, be sure to also include text and navigation links.
8. When considering purchasing or exchanging links, check the cached date of the linking page in Google. Search for "cache:URL" and replace URL with the actual website address. A newer cache date is better. If the page doesn’t exist or the cache date is over a month old, the page has little value.
9. Engage influential blogs and authoritative websites that might link to you, your images, videos, podcasts, etc., or request to reprint your content. This increases traffic and click-through rates, promoting your site effectively and enhancing its visibility.
10. If you must use JavaScript drop-down menus, image maps, or image links, ensure that their text links are placed somewhere on the page so that search engine crawlers can index them.
