"I am the legendary prince on a white horse, but more importantly, I am a man who values duty and believes in managing marriage as one would manage a business. That's why I have come to look for you." This literary passage was prominently featured on the cover of promotional flyers distributed on the campus of Jinan University on November 1st.
The inner pages of the flyer contained personal profiles of two male protagonists along with their preferences for potential female partners. According to the profile, one of the main characters, JACK, was "born in 1982, holding an undergraduate degree in business administration from a university in the UK," while the second protagonist, Xiaohai, was "born in 1985, with an undergraduate degree from a university in Guangzhou." It was noted that neither of them appeared at the scene where the flyers were distributed.
A matrimonial headhunting agency revealed that Jinan University was just the first stop in their search for suitable matches for their two clients. They planned to continue their "search" at other universities in the Guangzhou area, such as Sun Yat-sen University, as well as shopping malls like Zhengjia Plaza and nine Class A office buildings including CITIC Plaza.
Six attractive young women dressed in eye-catching Christmas dresses and wearing sashes that read "Post-80s Entrepreneurs Seeking Pure and Beautiful Campus Flowers" handed out the same-named promotional flyers at the entrance of the canteen at Jinan University. It was understood that two "post-80s enterprise heirs," Xiaohai and JACK (pseudonyms), had entrusted a matrimonial headhunting agency in Guangzhou to find them suitable partners.
Rich second-generation individuals distribute flyers on campus seeking "campus flowers," sparking backlash among students who likened the event to a concubine selection process.
During interviews at the scene, multiple male and female students who received the flyers were tracked and questioned. The vast majority of the female students interviewed stated they would not participate in this matrimonial search activity. Some even remarked, "It feels like a concubine selection process. Why don't they put their own pictures on the flyer? Are they too ugly to show their faces?"
Is such a high-profile "search for campus flowers" too ostentatious? The two men seeking partners expressed their thoughts: they merely wanted to be proactive in disseminating information without any intention of being superior. As a gesture of appreciation, they planned to invite all the girls who responded to attend a "marital relationship training class" later in mid-November.
