This adaptation of Keigo Higashino's eponymous novel depicts the tragic love story between male protagonist Jyunichi Narse, who undergoes a drastic personality change after brain surgery, and his lover Kei Yumura. In the hospital ward, Jyunichi awakens from a long slumber. The first voice he hears is Kei's heartfelt cry: "Jun, why am I lying in a hospital bed? What woke me?" In Jyunichi's memory, the only thing remaining amidst the darkness are the happy days he spent with Kei, gradually beginning to resurface in his mind. After leaving the hospital, Kei treats Jyunichi the same as before, with her unchanging gentle smile. However, within Jyunichi himself, something seems to be uncontrollably sprouting; he develops different feelings towards Kei. "I will awaken all my past memories. I will thoroughly understand myself." This is Jyunichi's determination, and it is proof of his love for Kei.
