The people in today's cities all share a common illness: they make the pursuit of ideals the center of their lives, but neglect the families that silently support them from behind. This drama attempts to awaken people's long-forgotten family relationships through a light-hearted and humorous approach. Jiang Zhenmin, a retired chief editor who lost his wife twenty years ago, raised four children on his own. He has always wanted to fulfill his late wife's last wish, bringing happiness and joy to his children. However, as the children have grown up and are pursuing their own lives and ideals, a rift has developed between them and their father.

Zhenmin's eldest son, Bowen, lives in an apartment with his wife and child, Haoran. In order to implement their immigration plan ahead of schedule, they decide to sell the apartment and pretend that they are moving back to the ancestral home to keep Bowen's retired father company. However, this creates friction with Bowen's younger brother, Bocong, and his sister-in-law, Wanqin, who already live in the ancestral home. The tension between the two sisters-in-law worsens. Eventually, Bowen loses money in the stock market, exposing the truth about their move back home, which causes Zhenmin's blood pressure to spike and he collapses and is hospitalized. Realizing his mistakes, Bowen decides to reform himself.

At work, Bowen encounters a calm and beautiful female boss, and they develop a vague extramarital affair. Fortunately, Bowen pulls back just in time and saves his family. Zhenmin has always hoped for a grandson, but Bocong and his wife, Wanqin, have not had any good news. After using a secret recipe passed down by their uncle, Wanqin finally becomes pregnant with their first child. Just as the couple is happily preparing for the baby's arrival, Bocong gets laid off, plunging the couple into financial difficulties and straining their relationship. After much mental struggle, the couple overcomes their psychological barriers and becomes a pair that shares hardships together.

Zhenmin's eldest daughter, Jianing, is not only beautiful but also an excellent TV producer. Since being betrayed by her previous boyfriend, she has declared her intention to remain single. But after meeting her true love, color returns to her life. Jianing and her lover quickly decide to get married. Out of respect for his wife, Jianing's husband agrees to delay having children for two years. However, their plans are opposed by their aunt from Penang, who repeatedly acts as a matchmaker to create romantic atmospheres, hoping they will bring forward their childbearing plan. Unable to withstand her aunt’s nagging, Jianing eventually vents her suppressed feelings, causing a temporary strain in their relationship. It is Zhenmin who mediates and reconciles them, and Jianing finally understands the goodwill of her elders and agrees to have a baby.

Zhenmin's youngest daughter, Jiatong, is an outstanding young woman who is not only considerate of her father but also the joy of the whole family. Her colorful life, however, darkens after being deceived in love. When Jiatong feels hopeless, her sister Jianing and the family appear in time to help her rebuild a healthy outlook on life. After various setbacks, everyone finally realizes the value of family ties because only family will give one the greatest tolerance and support.
