A 15-Year Retrospective on Browser History

Starting from the first commercial browser, Netscape, by October 13, 2009, browsers had already gone through a 15-year history. In our previous article on the history of browsers (A Pictorial Brief History of Browsers Over 20 Years), we mentioned Tim Berners-Lee and the WorldWideWeb browser he designed. This article starts with Netscape because it was the first internet tool that made the Web widely known to the public. Netscape not only popularized the Internet among the masses but also triggered multiple browser wars and several legal battles related to software.
