Each episode, the designers face different challenges. Sometimes they are tested on using non-traditional fabric materials to create clothing, such as in Season 3 where they used recycled waste to make outfits, or in Season 1 where they used supermarket items to create garments. Other times, they design for specific figures like figure skater Sasha Cohen or Miss America Teresa Stanley. They also design products for ready-to-wear companies or specific themes like cocktail parties. Designers are given a set amount of money and limited time to create their outfits, usually working independently, but occasionally some themes require team work. Once the deadline hits, designers must dress the models, do hair and makeup, etc. The models then walk the runway while a panel of judges reviews each designer's clothing. Judges will ask the designers about their creative concepts and interview them regarding their teamwork experiences. One winning designer and one losing designer are chosen each week, with the losing designer being eliminated. Finalists have twelve weeks to create twelve new ready-to-wear pieces for Olympus Fashion Week. In the end, all judges decide who the winner is. The model collaborating with the designers also participates in a competition, where the number of models decreases weekly alongside the number of designers until only one model remains. The winning model gets to wear the winning designer’s outfit in a two-page spread in the American version of the magazine.
