The Birth of a Lie

The story of "The Lie's Birth" takes place in a magical world where the concept of lying simply does not exist, and even white lies are never told. But one day, our protagonist Mark (played by Ricky Gervais) has a flash of inspiration and tells the world's first lie. He discovers that a wonderful world awaits him. The original title of the film was "The Other Side of the Truth," but according to Ricky Gervais, this name made them worry that the audience might miss the point. For market acceptance, they changed it to a simpler and more straightforward, albeit less flavorful, new name. The British-style dry humor has always had a bit of cultural clash with Hollywood, but Ricky Gervais' "Ghost Town" last year performed well both critically and at the box office. Due to the success of the former, the director’s debut could attract popular comedy actress Tina Fey and fat boy favorite Jonah Hill from the Apatow crew to join.
