In the story of "Wen Suchen," six of the seven heroes from Longmen were killed during a night investigation at Zhaoqing Temple. Wen Suchen, the leader of the seven heroes, was determined to take revenge. The head monk of the temple, Kongming, had committed numerous evils, including molesting a carpenter's sister, Qin'er, and conspiring with treacherous officials to murder the circuit inspector Lin Tigan on Guari Pavilion. Lin's family mistakenly triggered a trap and fell into the sea but were secretly protected by Wen, who also saved Lin's daughter, Hongyu, from the sea. Lin then ordered Wen to attack Zhaoqing Temple and retrieve the list of traitors. Thus, Wen infiltrated the scripture hall of Zhaoqing Temple and engaged in a final battle with Kongming.
