Fantasia is a work composed of classical music paired with animation, and can generally be divided into three major categories: story music, non-specific thematic music, and symphonic music. Aside from "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," which stars Mickey Mouse, the other six segments have no plot and purely showcase the ingenious coordination between imagery and music. A splash of color or lines might subtly allude to certain concepts. The film consists of seven segments in total: Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor, Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker Suite, Dukas' The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring, Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 (Pastoral), Ponchielli's Dance of the Hours, Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain, and Schubert's Ave Maria.
