Substitute views for "mining". Have you "watched" today?

What are the trending topics? What are the topics worth viewing and have click value? On Digg-like websites, are they the topics with the most "diggs" or "upvotes"? The popularity of a topic isn't determined by how many people "digg" it, but rather by how many people view it on the blog homepage, individual pages, feeds, or categories, as well as how many comments and pingbacks the topic receives. Different weights can be assigned accordingly, for example, 0.5 points for each view on the homepage, 2 points for each view in the feed, and 10 points for each view on the single page (indicating an impulse to read in detail). A comment adds an additional 3 points on top of the 10 points from the single-page view (indicating an impulse to leave a message after reading), and a pingback adds another 6 points (indicating an impulse to write an article referencing it after leaving a comment), resulting in a comprehensive score. (This idea originated from a WordPress plugin, Alex's Popularity Contest; for specific results, see my list of popular articles.)
