The story of Tang Dynasty General Li Keyong's twelve adopted sons and his real son Li Cunxun: Under the leadership of late Tang military commander Li Keyong, his twelve adopted sons together with his biological son Li Cunxun were collectively known as the Thirteen Grand Protectors. Each of the Thirteen Grand Protectors possessed unique talents in both military strategy and martial prowess, their power and influence unmatched for a time. As their military achievements grew, so did the rewards and benefits. However, this also led to mutual suspicion and treachery among the sons. Among them, only Li Cunxiao was indifferent to gains and losses, maintaining sincerity and integrity. Unfortunately, such behavior only invited slander, false accusations, and persecution. Li Keyong believed that as long as he remained fair and impartial, treating everyone equally, all would be loyal to him. He failed to realize the unpredictability of human nature and how even blood ties could not withstand the endless greed and desires. The film features several young male actors portraying the Thirteen Grand Protectors, including Wong Cheung-Hing (with a Westernized appearance) and Yue Hua as Li Keyong, while Siu Kei plays his daughter. Li Keyong leads his thirteen sons into battle, each of the Thirteen Grand Protectors possessing extraordinary skills.
