She is a member of the Federal Witness Protection Program in New Mexico, and her job is highly confidential. The people she protects include professional criminals, sophisticated swindlers, murderers, as well as unfortunate victims and accidental witnesses to crimes. However, regardless of their identities or whether they are guilty or not, they all have one thing in common: someone wants them dead. For the witnesses, testifying in court means abandoning family and friends, cutting off all existing ties. Her duty lies in protecting them from being hunted down by enemies, helping them change their identities, and moving them to an unfamiliar southwestern region to start a new life. She has a partner, and their personalities clash like Mars colliding with Earth. They constantly mock each other and have endless friction, yet they work seamlessly together and successfully complete one protection task after another. Although the job is extremely dangerous and stressful, it doesn't come close to the headaches caused by family matters. She lives with her clingy mother and equally troublesome sister, neither of whom has ever held a proper job and are always holding a drink. Their move to New Mexico was for the purpose of unloading a box of methamphetamine for her boyfriend. She must carefully conceal the nature of her job from them and her friends. She also has a boyfriend with whom her relationship is on-again-off-again, as her work and family always serve as perfect excuses whenever he tries to take their relationship further.
