Sudden wealth passes before one's eyes.

In the movie, the male lead Alec Guinness plays a mild and humble gold bar transporter who has been repeating the task of loading gold bars into an armored car for years. However, one day he decides to rob gold worth one million pounds. His accomplices include personnel he recruited and his old friend, a engraver and manufacturer of paper presses. They decide to hide the gold bars in small models of the Eiffel Tower once they are robbed, and then ship them to France. But while passing through customs, due to the lost gold being closely guarded by customs officers, these amateur thieves start to panic, resulting in six small Eiffel Tower models containing the gold being mistakenly sold to a group of British female students.
