GizmoCall - Free online phone call service

GizmoCall is an online telephone service based on browser. However, you need to install an add-on program first. It's free but with certain restrictions: you can only make free calls for a maximum of five minutes per day. If you want to extend the time, you need to pay.

In addition to making free calls, it also provides a free short message service called GizmoSMS. But it seems that China is currently not within its supported areas.
