What is Sitelink?
Through the Google Webmaster Tools, you can quickly find an item called "Sitelinks" under links. Many webmasters who click on it only discover a brief introduction from Google with no link hints. That's because your website has not yet met Google's criteria for Sitelinks, and therefore, you have not received the Sitelinks reward. If your website achieves the Sitelinks phenomenon, then on the Links page in the Google Webmaster Tools, there will be a prompt at the bottom: "Current Sitelinks Last updated *****", where the asterisks represent the date, informing you of when the recent Sitelinks were generated.
We can understand the Sitelinks phenomenon as follows: It is a reward from the Google search engine for your website in the search results for certain keywords. Through Sitelinks, your website can gain more presentation methods. A regular natural ranking shows 10 results per page, but after your website receives the Sitelinks reward, it can display multiple text links to website content or directories below one ranking position.
The famous SEOWHY has achieved the Sitelinks phenomenon in SEO search results
Case: SEOWHY, when searching for SEO on Google, the top-ranked site is SEOWHY. The site has received the Sitelinks reward, achieving the first rank and this effect is indeed not easy, demonstrating their strength.
SEO Tribe also received the Sitelinks reward in the search results for the site name
Case: SEO Tribe, when searching for SEO Tribe on Google, you can see that they have also received the Sitelinks reward.
Why are Sitelinks so important - what can they bring us?
Sitelinks can produce the effect of multiple ranking positions from one ranking position in the search results. Suppose the top-ranked website in the search results receives the Sitelinks reward and gets 8 additional links displayed. This allows searchers to directly access multiple directories of the website through one search action. For large e-commerce websites, if Sitelinks can be used to display multiple different product categories in the search results, it can help boost the sales of related products. For example, if someone searches for "cars," and the top-ranked website in the search results page has received the Sitelinks reward, displaying other categories such as "car engines, car beauty, imported cars, or others," through one search for "cars," customers can directly see multiple product displays.
Many companies have experienced bidding on pay-per-click ads, like Google AdWords, which is very popular among domestic foreign trade companies, but the effects haven't been maximized. For example, I want to run ads for several product categories. Since these product pages are different, they are scattered across different search result pages. This causes a significant waste of resources. If your website can achieve the Sitelinks effect, then you can get the opportunity to display multiple links from one search.
How to obtain the Sitelinks reward
Websites that receive the Sitelinks reward generally have the following characteristics:
1. The website has a PR value.
2. The website ranks first in the search results for a specific keyword and maintains the first position for a long time. I've previously seen websites ranked first on the third page also receiving the Sitelinks phenomenon, but after Google's last two updates, this seems to have disappeared.
3. The website has gained a large number of backlinks or a few high-quality backlinks.
4. Internal linking is reasonable; here, we need to explain the concept of internal linking.
