Forty percent of job seekers have falsified information. According to a survey, sixty percent of professionals claimed that they never concealed or exaggerated some key information during the job-hunting process. The relevant options in the survey were all "hard" data for job seekers, which basically left little room for concealment or exaggeration.

The survey showed that among the information job seekers concealed or falsified, previous salary was the most frequently exaggerated. In the process of looking for a job, in order to secure a higher wage from a new employer, job seekers might hide their actual income from their previous company. The second most common falsification was related to significant work experiences, often done in pursuit of higher positions. This posed greater risks in job hunting as regular companies usually conduct background checks before confirming employment. If it is found that a job seeker falsified important work experience, it would leave a very negative impression on potential employers.
