Step 1: Import Photo
Run the software. If it's your first time using it, select "New Cartoon" (see Figure 1), then import a photo of yourself. To ensure good cartoon effects, it's recommended to use a headshot. Microsoft Cartoon Maker will automatically analyze the photo and outline the face with green lines for positioning. You may also need to make some manual adjustments for optimal results.
Step 2: Choose Face Shape
Next, you can choose the character's gender and different facial features. In most cases, the default settings should work fine, but you can also drag the scrollbar on the right to try different facial contours.
Step 3: Outline Facial Features
After selecting the face shape, the software will automatically recognize the character's facial features and use green lines to outline the eyes, mouth, nose, etc. Dragging the green anchor points allows for adjustments, and the preview pane on the right will instantly display the corresponding effects (see Figure 2).
Step 4: Design Decorations
Choosing and designing various decorations is also very important. Surely, you wouldn't want your cartoon portrait to have a bald head, would you? As shown in Figure 3, here you can add hairstyles, glasses, expressions, clothes, etc., to your cartoon avatar. You can also add beards and other expressions. All functions are consistent with the online version of MSN Cartoon, allowing for real-time adjustments until satisfaction.
Step 5: Add Body
Here, we provide cartoon bodies such as casual, sporty, humorous, etc., for users to choose from. You can select one type of body or all bodies under a category, which works great as QQ emoticons.
After completing the above steps, finally save the cartoon image as a GIF format picture. You can also set it as a login picture, desktop wallpaper, or send it via email to friends. The size can be set according to your needs, such as 48x48, 120x120, 200x200, or you can choose "custom" to decide the size of the cartoon image yourself.
