Afternoon news on August 19th, Maoding Yidin, Vice President of Rising, expressed in Beijing today that Rising has cooperated with Google to promote free antivirus software recently.
According to informed sources, in the "Google Selected Software" product for Chinese version released yesterday, Rising Antivirus Software, Google Pinyin Input Method, Google Kingsoft Word霸 etc. are all in the list of recommended downloadable software by Google, and are provided free of charge to users.
Google China confirmed that it indeed promotes Rising's antivirus software jointly. However, Google did not disclose whether it will conduct in-depth cooperation with Rising in the R&D field.
Previously, Google had collaborated with Kingsoft to develop Google Kingsoft Word霸, and Baidu also teamed up with Kingsoft to pilot an online free antivirus service. The speculation is that Google might have in-depth R&D cooperation with Rising. However, both parties have not given a clear response to this yet.
Google Selected Software focuses on dictionary, toolbar, security software, etc. Google stated that it will improve and update the software according to user needs in the future. Currently, Qihu 360 Security Guard also provides a selected software download function, covering all basic free software required for computer installation. This move by Google to launch the Chinese version of Selected Software may cause some impact on Qihu's related services. And Rising, which is currently fiercely competing with Qihu in the free antivirus field, may catalyze the competition between both parties. (Quan Zhi)
