Interpreting Medical Insurance Reform
■ On March 21, a meeting on the reform of medical insurance system in Beijing was held. As the main component of the social security system, the reform of medical insurance has attracted a lot of attention from the media and all sectors of society.
■ Starting from April 1, 2001, Beijing will fully implement "The Regulations on Basic Medical Insurance in Beijing", marking the full-scale rollout of the long and winding road of medical insurance reform.
■ According to preliminary statistics, around 6 million people in the city will participate in the basic medical insurance program.
■ Experts predict that with the rapid advancement of medical insurance reform, significant changes will also occur in the city's medical and pharmaceutical systems. In the future, the principles of "openness, fairness, and justice" will push hospitals and pharmacies towards the market.
