Windows XP will end its support on April 8th, one year from now, after which Microsoft will stop providing security updates for XP. Despite this, XP still holds nearly 40% of the market share. It seems that some Windows XP users may not even consider upgrading, but the issue is not with XP itself, rather it is related to certain professional software. An ophthalmologist who is still using XP said she cannot afford the upgrade costs. If she were to upgrade to Windows 7, the professional software she uses on XP would no longer function, and she would have to upgrade to a version that works on Windows 7, which would cost her close to $10,000. This example might just be an exception, as most XP users continue to use XP not because of expensive third-party software.
