Microsoft's new generation of mobile operating systems, "Crossbow," is about to be released. According to information captured by Google Cache, "Crossbow" will be sent to mobile phone and PPC manufacturers in the fourth quarter of 2006, and products pre-installed with Crossbow will be launched in the first and second quarters of next year. Crossbow borrows some elements from Vista, making it more flashy. Of course, the new operating system can better integrate with Office 2007 and Exchange 12, along with mobile versions of Office components and an enterprise edition instant messaging tool.

A senior Microsoft executive, Pieter Knook, stated: Microsoft will update its mobile operating system once a year going forward. If everything goes smoothly, the next generation operating system, "Photon," will be sent to mobile phone and PPC manufacturers in the fourth quarter of 2007, and products equipped with "Photon" will be launched in the first and second quarters of 2008.
