Fireworks can be beautiful, but sometimes they can also be very dangerous.

Two recent incidents in Jinhua involving children getting injured have reminded us that when setting off fireworks, we should never forget: "the right place, the correct method, and appropriate personnel."

Yesterday, seven-year-old Wang from Pujiang was still hospitalized at Zhejiang Second Hospital, his right eye wrapped in thick bandages.

"His eyesight will definitely be affected. We're most worried about him going blind," said Uncle Wang, a relative. He added that it was all due to the fireworks.

Wang is a distant relative of Uncle Wang from Pujiang. Uncle Wang mentioned that Wang's parents work in Fuyang and didn't return home for the New Year, so they had to lock their son inside. "My daughter-in-law felt sorry for him being lonely, so she brought him to Pujiang for the New Year, but then this happened..."

On the morning of the first day of the New Year, Wang and another child were playing outside when they saw an unlit firework cylinder belonging to a neighbor. Thinking it hadn't been fully ignited, they poured out the remaining gunpowder and lit it...

With a "bang", Wang immediately covered his right eye and cried out in pain...

The relatives first sent the child to the local hospital for basic wound treatment before transferring him to Zhejiang Second Hospital in Hangzhou.

Doctors stated that the likelihood of the child regaining sight in his right eye is very small.

Because there are doubts regarding the quality of the fireworks involved in the incident, the family has already reported the matter to the police and the commerce department.

In Yongchang Town, Lanxi City, there have also been several cases recently where fireworks set off by others caused injuries to children. In one such case, a 10-year-old girl was with her father paying respects at a grave when a firecracker exploded near her ear. The young girl immediately felt a buzzing sound in her ears. After examination by a doctor, it was found that her eardrum had ruptured.
