1. Check if the trademark identification is complete. Genuine products have high-quality outer packaging, with clear lettering on the packaging box and vibrant printed colors. The packaging box or bag should indicate the product name, specifications, model, quantity, registered trademark, factory name, address, and telephone number, etc. Some manufacturers also mark their components. Important parts like generators, distributors, and fuel pumps often come with user manuals, certificates of conformity, and inspectors' stamps to guide users in correct use and maintenance. 2. Check if the geometric dimensions are deformed. Some parts may deform due to manufacturing, transportation, and storage. During inspection, you can roll the shaft-type parts along a glass plate to see if there is any light leakage at the contact point between the part and the glass plate to determine if it is bent; when selecting clutch driven discs steel plates or friction plates, hold them up to your eyes to observe if they are warped; when selecting oil seals, the end face of the skeleton oil seal should be perfectly round and fit snugly against the flat glass without distortion; for non-skeletal oil seals, the outer edge should be straight, and when you grip it to make it deform, it should return to its original shape after releasing it. 3. Check if the mating surfaces are flat. During transportation and storage, due to vibration and collision, burrs, dents, damage, or cracks may occur at the mating surfaces of parts, affecting their use. Carefully inspect when selecting.
4. Check if the surface of the part is rusted. Qualified parts have a certain level of precision and a bright, smooth finish. The more important the part, the higher the precision, and the stricter the packaging for rust and corrosion prevention. When selecting, check carefully. If rust spots, mold spots, or cracked rubber parts with lost elasticity, or obvious lathe marks on the journal surface are found, replacements should be made.
5. Check if the protective layer is intact. Most parts are coated with a protective layer upon leaving the factory. For example, piston pins and bearing shells are protected by wax; piston rings and cylinder liners are coated with rust-proof oil and wrapped in packaging paper; valves and pistons are immersed in rust-proof oil and then sealed in plastic bags. If the seal is broken, the packaging paper is missing, or the rust-proof oil or wax has flowed away, replacements should be made.
6. Check if the bonded parts are loose. Components made up of two or more parts are joined together through pressing, bonding, or welding. There should be no looseness between the parts. For example, the oil pump plunger and adjustment arm are press-fitted; the clutch driven wheel and steel plate are riveted; the friction plate and steel plate are either riveted or bonded; the filter element frame of the paper filter is bonded to the filter paper; the electrical equipment wire ends are welded. If looseness is found during selection, replacements should be made.
7. Check if the rotating parts are flexible. When selecting rotating component assemblies such as oil pumps, manually rotate the pump shaft. It should feel smooth and free of jamming. When selecting rolling bearings, support the inner ring with one hand and rotate the outer ring with the other. The outer ring should freely rotate quickly and then gradually stop. If the rotating part does not turn smoothly, it indicates internal rust or deformation. Do not purchase.
8. Check if all components of the assembly are present. A regular assembly must be complete and in good condition to ensure smooth installation and normal operation. If individual small parts are missing from some assembly components, the entire assembly will fail to function and may even become scrap.
