A victim whose leg was bitten was waiting for treatment / reporter Zhang Yingchuan. At around 11 a.m. yesterday, near Nianzhuang in Chaoyang District, a black Tibetan Mastiff bit nine people along the road before being shot down by the police with a tranquilizer gun and then "arrested". As of this morning, the owner of the Tibetan Mastiff has not yet appeared, while the "offender" has been sent to relevant authorities.
● Hospital Treatment: 9 people were bitten, 5 with minor injuries and 4 with serious injuries
Yesterday noon, the reporter separately rushed to the Chaoyang District Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Chaoyang Second Hospital, where he met the nine victims.
Five of the victims with minor injuries were receiving treatment at the disease control center. They mostly had skin breaks on their limbs and buttocks. Since the injuries were not severe, they only needed to receive vaccines.
At the emergency department of Chaoyang Second Hospital, another four victims with more serious injuries were receiving treatment. Mr. Zhang, a customer of Jing Tong Auto Repair Department, and passer-by Mr. Li were the most seriously injured. Their wounds from the bite were swollen. After cleaning the wounds, the doctors promptly injected them with anti-rabies serum protein.
The reporter noticed that Mr. Li's left arm was bitten four times by the Tibetan Mastiff, with five or six tooth marks about two centimeters long on his wrist. It was understood that the nine victims, five men and four women, all received rabies vaccines, with medical expenses ranging from three to four thousand yuan each.
● Eyewitness Account: Police use tranquilizer guns to subdue the dog that attacked people
The reporter then rushed to the scene of the incident, Nianzhuang near Fadou in Chaoyang District. According to many villagers' recollections, the dog that bit people was a medium-sized black Tibetan Mastiff, about half a meter tall and nearly two meters long.
Upon seeing the Tibetan Mastiff attack people, many residents spontaneously came out with shovels, hoes, and iron rods to chase the dog, intending to catch it and then reported to the police.
After receiving the alarm, the officers from Xiaowuji Police Station rushed to the scene. At this time, the officers found that the trouble-making Tibetan Mastiff was "roaming" on the road, so three police cars immediately began "pursuing" it. During this period, the police car hit the Tibetan Mastiff three times, but the dog stubbornly got up and continued to roam along the road.
Subsequently, the confused Tibetan Mastiff was driven into a dead-end alley within the Baifang Freight Yard by the police car. Several officers with long forks and dog tongs gradually drove it into the women's restroom.
"The dog was barking fiercely and occasionally lunged at the police," said resident Mr. Hou. After more than 20 minutes of standoff, the police could not get close to the Tibetan Mastiff. Two police officers over 50 years old even tried to climb onto the roof with steel forks but failed.
Finally, the police used tranquilizer guns. Immediately after hearing three shots, the subdued Tibetan Mastiff was put into a large iron cage and loaded onto the police car.
● Victim Narration:
In front of the auto repair shop, the Tibetan Mastiff quietly attacked
According to Mr. Zhang, a customer of Jing Tong Auto Repair Shop, yesterday he drove his Jinbei vehicle for repair. At the time of the incident, he was checking the condition of the car when he suddenly felt an intense pain in his left calf. "There was no warning or sound before it suddenly bit me," Mr. Zhang said. He turned around and saw that it was a black Tibetan Mastiff that bit him.
He used his arm to strike the dog's head forcefully, and the dog then bit his left arm, tearing his clothes. After being kicked and beaten by Mr. Zhang, the Tibetan Mastiff rushed into the shop and also bit employee Xiao Xie. After biting people, the Tibetan Mastiff fled northward and attacked the Zhou family of four.
The Zhou family lived near Jing Tong Auto Repair Shop, and the first one bitten was his 15-year-old daughter. At the time, the daughter went downstairs to buy groceries from the supermarket. Just as she walked down, she encountered the Tibetan Mastiff, and was immediately bitten on her index finger and middle finger.
Mr. Zhou heard his daughter crying for help downstairs through the window, so he went downstairs with his wife and elder daughter to check, and they were all subsequently bitten by the dog. His wife, who was wearing thick clothing, had two bloody marks on her right arm.
After biting six people, this Tibetan Mastiff did not stop its frenzied attacks. Passerby Mr. Li and a couple visiting relatives in Nianzhuang also became victims.
● Latest Developments: The owner of the Tibetan Mastiff is still being "tracked"
This morning, according to Chaoyang police, after capturing the Tibetan Mastiff, the police have already taken statements from the victims. However, as of this morning, the police are still making every effort to find the owner of the Tibetan Mastiff.
It was also learned that all the victims have already received treatment and returned home to recuperate, but the medical expenses were temporarily paid out of pocket. The Tibetan Mastiff that injured nine people has been sent to relevant departments.
