The Flowing Soldiers, Persistent Love

For 8 years, all 15 members of a certain long-distance station of the General Staff Department were female soldiers. Current first-class non-commissioned officer Yin Ruiwen said that in 2003, while reading a newspaper, they saw a pair of eyes longing for schooling which touched the hearts of the female soldiers. "Let's donate money to her." However, after donating for some time, the enthusiasm of the female soldiers cooled down, "with low wages and little pocket money," so they decided to collect waste to raise funds.

At the military sports meeting, the female soldiers waited at the entrance for empty beverage bottles. During a spring outing at Fragrant Hills, the female soldiers collected waste along the way and returned fully loaded; when the army discarded computer packaging, the female soldiers cherished it as if it were a treasure. In addition to donations, each person sent books and stationery to the sponsored girls. Yin Ruiwen said that in the 8 years since the long-distance station was established, more than 40 people have been retired, but the tradition of collecting waste to sponsor the "Spring Bud Program" has continued.
