Hefei Online - Jianghuai Morning Post: On June 7, an 18-month-old girl fell from the fourth-floor balcony of Dormitory Building No. 7 under the Construction Committee of Juchao District in Chaohu City while playing. Fortunately, she was "caught" by a plastic tile extending out from the second-floor balcony during her fall. The girl's mother immediately jumped from the fourth floor to the second floor and held her child, preventing a tragedy. The child only sustained minor injuries.

According to witnesses, at around 8:40 AM that day, the area below Dormitory Building No. 7 under the Construction Committee of Juchao District was crowded with people. A man who was smoking got on a bus and was advised against it, leading to him attacking the driver with a three-section staff. Meanwhile, a fire truck was parked nearby, and many police officers and firefighters were busy running around. Upon closer inspection, it was found that on the second-floor balcony of the building, a young woman was holding an infant girl, trapped on the balcony.

It was learned that this infant girl had been playing on the fourth-floor balcony when she accidentally fell onto the plastic tiles of the second-floor balcony. After realizing her daughter had fallen, the mother didn't hesitate and leaped down to rescue her daughter. The two were temporarily unable to escape from the second-floor balcony.

By the time the reporter arrived at the scene, the mother and daughter had already been rescued from the second-floor balcony by the firefighters. Upon examination, the little girl only suffered from minor external injuries.

According to the mother, her daughter surnamed Sun is only 18 months old. That morning, while she was busy with housework, she never expected her daughter to climb up to the balcony. Later, when she leaned out of the window, due to the absence of a protective net on the window, she fell.

"At that moment, I just heard a 'boom', followed by my daughter's faint cries. I realized something terrible must have happened, and my daughter might have fallen from the building," said the mother. "I didn't even think twice and jumped down. Luckily, when I landed on the second-floor balcony, nothing happened, and I wasn't injured. I anxiously hugged my daughter tightly, fearing she would fall again from the second floor."

Residents of the dormitory area explained that the simple balcony of the second-floor household was built with elastic PVC plastic tiles; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
