Yesterday, when the reporter visited the "Zhang Wenming Good Person List" in Zhangjiagang, he/she happened to meet the good person Cao Jianchu. Speaking of Cao Jianchu, she is well-known in Gangcheng. The people of Zhangjiagang would affectionately call Cao Jianchu "Xiaoshou", while the students who had received her financial aid would fondly call her "Xiaoshou Mom". This randomly chosen online name over a decade ago has now become more famous than her real name.

Cao Jianchu, 41 years old this year, works at Zhangjiagang Xinpu Metal Products Co., Ltd. Cao Jianchu told the reporter: doing good deeds originates from her mother's teachings! Originally, Cao Jianchu's mother Gu Meiqin was an elementary school teacher in Donggang Village, Nanfeng Town, Zhangjiagang.

Li Yong and Li Hui were a pair of brothers among her mother's students, with a three-year age difference between them. They were smart and understanding. However, an accident took away their parents' lives. That year, Li Yong was 11 years old, and Li Hui was 8. After discussing with their grandmother, Gu Meiqin decided to keep it hidden from them and let the brothers continue studying here. Two years later, the brothers' grandparents passed away one after another. At that time, Gu Meiqin already had three children at home, and their conditions were not affluent. Her husband was also stationed in the military for a long time, but Gu Meiqin didn't think much about it and adopted the brothers. The heavy burden of the family fell on her shoulders, and life was poor but not dull. However, in 1994, Gu Meiqin was diagnosed with Parkinson's syndrome, and her health condition deteriorated year by year. In 2000, when Gu Meiqin was already bedridden, she called Cao Jianchu to her side and earnestly instructed her: "Take good care of Xiaoyong and Huihui!"

And so, Cao Jianchu took over the "relay baton" handed to her by her mother and officially "took charge" of the brothers. At that time, she was running an internet cafe, and every month she would prepare living expenses, one portion for Li Yong who was attending university in Jilin, and the other portion for Li Hui who was still in high school.

In 2006, Cao Jianchu unfortunately contracted leukemia. This woman who always thought of others concealed her illness from the Li Yong brothers.

Just after escaping death, Cao Jianchu, still recovering from her illness, started bustling around again. She founded the "Common People Charity Network" with a group of like-minded friends. Under her influence, more and more volunteers gathered on the path of love, devoting themselves to public welfare causes. Currently, the number of members has grown from 70 at the time of its establishment to more than 400 now, and the good deeds are countless.
