● The main creators, He Jiajing and Liu Jin, did not upload the video online because they were afraid others might think it was self-promotion.
● They are now conceptualizing a new song called "Police Also Miss Home," which is expected to be completed by the first half of this year.
A rap MV uploaded to the internet drew nearly ten thousand viewers within an hour. The singers of the MV were not celebrities but ordinary police officers from Qionglai.
Following the 2010 hit rap song "The People Are In My Heart" which became a viral sensation online and even made it to CCTV, yesterday afternoon, the second Sichuan dialect version rap created by Qionglai Public Security Bureau police officers Liu Jin, He Jiajing, and others, "Qionglai Police・Heroes," once again gained immense popularity among netizens.
Regarding this Sichuan-style rap, Liu Jin said, "Our idea is very simple, we just want people to understand the police and our work. It has nothing to do with hype."
This police hip-hop rap video has received enthusiastic support online.
At 5 PM yesterday, Ms. Tian, a citizen, was browsing websites when a friend sent her a video link and said, "The rapping police have released a second one, it's brilliant, you must take a look."
After Ms. Tian opened the video, she saw a police badge slowly approaching accompanied by the chorus "loyalty, responsibility, justice, livelihood." Then, traffic police directing traffic, community police issuing certificates, firefighters on the front line of rescue operations, and various types of police officers appeared one after another. More interestingly, after each segment, the lead singer would shout with his comrades-in-arms, "People's police, heroes! Qionglai police, heroes!"
"This is very fashionable, even rapping, keeping up with the times." After watching the 4 minute and 6 second video, Ms. Tian praised it highly and quickly forwarded it to her Weibo friends. At this point, the video had been uploaded for less than an hour, yet it already had nearly ten thousand viewers.
This is the second time they've become famous, showcasing the spirit of the police force.
Ms. Tian didn't know that this was already the second rap produced by Qionglai police officers. Although they had become famous once before, Liu Jin, the main creator of "Qionglai Police・Heroes," didn't expect the second rap to receive such a strong response.
Liu Jin introduced that this video was prepared by him and his colleague He Jiajing for the bureau's Spring Festival party, "We wanted to use this video to showcase the spirit of Qionglai police officers."
However, once the lyrics were submitted, everyone thought they were good, and the leadership believed it could serve as the basis for a sequel to the previous rap. Subsequently, Liu Jin began revising the lyrics repeatedly, "Highlighting the momentum, enhancing the musicality," while He Jiajing was busy inviting colleagues to make cameo appearances and finding external cinematographers.
In less than a week using their spare time, shortly after the New Year's Day holiday, "Qionglai Police・Heroes" was born.
Fearing accusations of hype, they waited a month before uploading it online.
In mid-January, this unique video, broadcasted during the Qionglai City Spring Festival Gala and the Qionglai Public Security Bureau Spring Festival Party, received widespread praise.
But He Jiajing and Liu Jin never uploaded the video online, "Initially, it was more about internal police team building, and we also feared others might say it was hype."
Until 3 PM yesterday, He Jiajing couldn't help himself and uploaded the video online. At around 4 PM, the Qionglai Public Security Bureau's official Weibo account "Safe Qionglai" re-posted it. Despite maintaining a low profile, the video still triggered widespread attention on Sina Weibo and various forums.
"As with the previous one, we still wanted to use an easy-to-understand way to promote Qionglai police, close to the people, absolutely not hype." He Jiajing reiterated multiple times that otherwise, they would have uploaded the video much earlier.
Interview with the Main Creators
Rap as a distraction? Created during spare time without affecting work
Yesterday afternoon, the reporter telephoned and interviewed two of the main creators of "Qionglai Police・Heroes" - police officers Liu Jin and He Jiajing.
Reporter: Why did you choose to sing in Sichuan dialect?
He Jiajing: This is closest to our real work and life, and it also has distinct Qionglai characteristics.
Reporter: Some people say that police doing rap is not focusing on their main duties, what do you think?
Liu Jin: I am an ordinary criminal investigation police officer, writing songs and composing music is just a hobby, done during my spare time, it hasn't affected my work. Actually, when I was studying at Xihua University, I formed a rap band with classmates.
Reporter: Will the next work have to wait until next year to see?
Liu Jin: Work is usually very busy, so new songs come out slowly. I am currently working on a new song called "Police Also Miss Home," which is expected to be completed by the first half of this year. The first two works showcased the image of police officers, but this one aims to let people understand the ordinary lives of police officers.
