Our reporter Zhou Xin learned from the Haidian police this morning that a major drug trafficking and trading gang has been broken up, with three suspects arrested. 498.12 grams of crystal methamphetamine have been seized. Female drug trader Ms Wang confessed that she had traded drugs because her family had no source of income. In early December 2011, the police received a lead that a middle-aged woman from Hebei residing in the Xiangshan area wanted to purchase drugs and planned to make a large profit by reselling them. Upon receiving this lead, the Haidian police immediately formed a special investigation team with the Municipal Public Security Bureau Anti-drug General Team and other departments to conduct an investigation on this woman. Investigations revealed that the female suspect was surnamed Wang, obese, weighing close to 200 jin (100kg), with very distinct physical features. On January 11th, 2012, more than 20 policemen from the special investigation team arrested suspect Wang and recovered 498.12 grams of crystal methamphetamine from her handbag. The special investigation team immediately conducted a review and found out that these drugs had just been transported from Hebei to Beijing by two other suspects who were still lingering around Xiangshan area. Based on this clue, the special investigation team rushed to the hideout of the two drug transportation suspects. Within 20 minutes, the special investigation team captured the two suspects Li and Yao before they could escape. After reviewing, all three confessed to their crime of illegally possessing, transporting and trading drugs. According to confessions, suspect Wang came to Beijing ten years ago and worked in restaurants until they closed down three years ago leaving her unemployed at home. Later, Wang's husband was imprisoned for committing a crime and her family lost its source of income. Just then, her old childhood friend Yao told her that he had a large quantity of drugs and if Wang could sell them, she would make a large amount of money. Not only would he deliver the goods to her door, but she could also buy them on credit if she didn't have enough money. Eager to make money, Wang immediately purchased nearly 500 grams of crystal methamphetamine from Yao, planning to make a big profit. However, before she made any money, all three were caught by the police. Currently, all three have been criminally detained by the Haidian police and the case is under further review.
