At around 11 p.m. the previous evening, a female victim experienced the aforementioned terrifying scene inside the self-service bank of the Agricultural Bank of China's Zhonglv Commercial City Branch at the intersection of Zhongshan Fifth Road and Jiefang Central Road in Guangzhou. Incident: Knife to neck, no shouting allowed According to reports, the incident took place at the west side of the first floor of the Zhonglv Commercial City Agricultural Bank located at the intersection of Zhongshan Fifth Road and Liberation West Road in Yuexiu District. This bank has two floors, the first floor entirely consists of self-service equipment, while the second floor is for manual transaction counters. The first floor is not connected to the Zhonglv Commercial City, but the second floor leads to a fast-food restaurant within the commercial city. Informed sources said that at around 11 p.m. the previous evening, a young girl, after visiting the Xihu Flower Market, went to the self-service bank of this branch to withdraw money. Just as the girl was operating the ATM, a masked man quickly walked into the self-service bank and pulled out a small knife from his pocket, quietly approaching the girl from behind. He then suddenly grabbed the girl's neck from behind, placing the knife against her neck, threatening her not to shout and demanding that she withdraw all the money and give it to him. The young girl was so frightened that she became disoriented, subsequently handing over the entire stack of cash she had just withdrawn to the thug. After succeeding in the robbery, the thug pushed the girl away and swiftly escaped from the scene. Follow-up visit: Posters blocking outside view Yesterday afternoon, reporters at the scene observed that there were four self-service machines on the first floor of the incident bank, but only one was in normal use, resulting in a long queue of citizens waiting to withdraw money at the ATM. The bank security guard stated that after the bank closes at around 5:30 p.m. every day, the anti-theft gates on the first and second floors would close, making the first floor a semi-enclosed self-service bank with only one glass door allowing entry and exit for citizens, but without staff on duty during nighttime. The location of the incident was near Beijing Road Pedestrian Street, and there were quite a number of people outside the self-service bank when the incident happened. So why didn't any citizen notice and report the incident in time? When reporters looked inside from outside the bank, they could see through the glass into the self-service bank area, but due to several posters promoting banking services posted on the glass, the view was obstructed, thus preventing a clear view of what was happening inside the self-service bank. Police follow-up: Suspect wore a mask, suspected "waiting for prey" Yesterday afternoon, relevant personnel from the Guangzhou police confirmed the authenticity of the case to New Express reporters. It was introduced that the amount stolen from the female victim was more than 3000 yuan. Currently, the Yuexiu police have filed a case for investigation and have allocated elite police forces to fully conduct detective work. According to police sources, at the time of the incident, there were only the victim and the suspect inside the self-service bank. The suspect was wearing a mask, making it difficult to identify facial features.
