Injured man shows signs of brain death
In the emergency room of the Armed Police General Hospital, Mr. Chen's wife, Ms. Wang, was in critical condition and still in grave danger. She urgently needed surgery. Her left calf had a comminuted fracture, and the doctor indicated that amputation might be necessary if required. Ms. Wang's father stated that yesterday at around 4:00 AM, Yaoyao complained of stomach pain, so her parents took her to see a doctor at the Children’s Research Institute, never expecting that "ultimately, it would be life-saving treatment at the institute."
Yaoyao was transferred from the Children’s Research Institute to Tiantan Hospital yesterday morning. According to the hospital, Yaoyao's pupils were dilated, and she had lost her ability to breathe autonomously. She could only be kept alive with medication, and her life was in constant danger.
The rear seat was ejected onto the road. The Infiniti sedan collided with the Fiat sedan and then hit a bus numbered 639.
In the emergency room of Chaoyang Hospital yesterday morning, the injured man, Mr. Chen, had already shown dilated pupils. The doctor said, "Now we can only maintain him; his brain is already dead." At 9:00 AM yesterday, three of Mr. Chen's friends came to visit him, and after learning about his condition, they hugged each other and cried bitterly.
The police officer on stakeout captured the offender.
"A child's body was half hanging outside, and the rear seat was ejected onto the road," eyewitness Mr. Li described. At the time of the incident, the traffic light at the T-junction was changing from green to red. A white Fiat sedan driving from north to south slowed down here. At this moment, a black Infiniti suddenly accelerated behind it, "possibly trying to overtake and beat the green light." With a loud crash, the Fiat spun three times in the middle of the road. In the process, a girl's body flew out through the right rear glass and hung on the car door, turning the three-box Fiat into a two-box.
Twenty minutes later, fire personnel arrived at the scene and dismantled the Fiat. At 6:30 AM yesterday, I saw at the scene that the left front wheel of the bus was dented above, and the left front side of the bus was completely deformed. The area was filled with vehicle parts, and both the Infiniti and Fiat cars had been towed away from the scene. According to informed sources, the driver of the Fiat sedan surnamed Chen, 32 years old, was from Zhejiang province; his wife surnamed Wang, 33 years old, was from Northeast China; their daughter Yaoyao (a pseudonym) was only six years old.
Mr. Li said that after colliding with the car in front, the Infiniti did not slow down but instead directly rammed into the 639 bus that was turning ahead. There were more than ten passengers on the bus at the time, some of whom were frightened, and one passenger was injured.
A traffic police officer at the scene said that after the accident, there was a mobile phone on the driver's seat of the Infiniti. After verification by the police, the phone belonged to the offending driver, who had fled the scene after the incident. The driver of the black Infiniti was named Jia Chen, 30 years old, and at the time of the incident, there were three men and one woman on the Infiniti, all under 30 years old.
After the incident, the investigating officers gathered information from eyewitnesses, questioned passengers, and conducted investigations around the suspect and related individuals. The police divided into three teams: the first team staked out near Jia Chen's residence, the second team went to Jia Chen's workplace for surveillance, and the third team went to Capital Airport to track Jia Chen's wife to find the suspect's whereabouts. At 3:17 PM that day, the officers noticed Jia Chen returning to his residence and immediately arrested him.
According to reports, at 5:35 AM yesterday, at the Qi Family Flower intersection on Chang'an Street, an Infiniti sedan with a Beijing N license plate turned a white Fiat sedan from "three boxes to two boxes" and then collided with a bus numbered 639. The accident resulted in diffuse brain injuries to the driver and his daughter in the Fiat, putting their lives in danger, while the wife suffered from double leg fractures. After the incident, the Hunan-born driver, Jia Chen, fled the scene and was captured by the traffic management department that afternoon.
