In this operation, the police seized more than 240 grams of crystal methamphetamine from the shoulder bag of a key suspect Peng (female, 23 years old, from Hubei province) on the spot.
According to preliminary investigation by the police, in the early hours of December 12, Peng had also sold 245 grams of crystal meth and 41.6 grams of ecstasy pills to another suspect Chi (already arrested) in this case.
During the lawful interrogation and evidence collection period for Peng, she remained highly agitated and refused to cooperate with the police questioning. During this time, the investigating officers noticed that Peng had injured herself by biting her tongue. The police quickly notified doctors from the Armed Police Hospital to provide medical assistance on-site. Around 8 PM on December 13, Peng died during treatment at the hospital.
As reported by Yangcheng Evening News, journalist Wang Pu and correspondent Gong Xuan: In the early hours of December 13, Guangzhou police cracked a major group drug trafficking case, arresting four suspects including drug user Peng, and seizing approximately 1900 grams of various types of drugs. During the interrogation process, drug user Peng injured herself by biting her tongue, subsequently suffering acute methamphetamine poisoning which triggered acute severe myocarditis and cardiac arrest leading to her death.
Following the incident, the police swiftly collaborated with relevant departments including the Guangzhou Procuratorate and the Armed Police Hospital to investigate the matter. According to the diagnosis by the Armed Police Hospital, Peng suffered from symptoms such as tongue injury, acute methamphetamine poisoning which triggered acute severe myocarditis, cardiac arrest, multi-organ dysfunction, and respiratory and circulatory failure. The exact cause of death requires further determination through an autopsy.
The case is still under investigation.
