It was reported that this was the first case in Wenzhou City where drunk driving accident was charged with endangering public security by dangerous means. The court considered that Zheng Yongle showed no regard for traffic regulations and public safety, and drove a cloned car without a driver’s license after taking drugs and getting drunk, causing damage to multiple vehicles. His behavior constituted the crime of endangering public security by dangerous means. The charge from the prosecuting authority was established. Zheng Yongle had previous criminal records but still did not repent and committed crimes again, so he should be punished more severely according to circumstances. Considering that Zheng Yongle reached compensation agreements with 11 victims after the incident and paid a total of 93018 yuan as compensation, showing some repentance, the court decided to mitigate his punishment appropriately and made the above judgment accordingly. Xinhua News Agency, Hangzhou, March 9th (reported by Fang Lie) In Zhejiang Wenzhou, Zheng Yongle, a man who got drunk and took drugs, drove a car despite knowing that he did not have a driver's license, resulting in consecutive collisions with 13 normally operating cars. On August 8th, Longwan Court sentenced him to seven years in prison for endangering public security by dangerous means. At around 7 p.m. on May 10, 2010, after drinking with friends at a hotel in Longwan District, Wenzhou City, Zheng Yongle drove a Guangzhou Honda business car with cloned plates (real plate number Zhe C6U788, cloned as Zhe C69582) towards the city center, despite knowing that he didn't have a driver's license and that drunk driving could cause social harm. When he drove to the intersection of Ouhai Avenue and Jianzhong Street in Longwan District and saw that there were traffic police checking ahead, Zheng Yongle turned around and drove against the traffic on the auxiliary road of Ouhai Avenue, consecutively colliding with 13 cars normally driving on the lane. He was forced to stop when his car was jammed by one of the smaller cars and unable to continue forward. He was caught on the spot by the traffic police. After testing Zheng Yongle's blood and urine, it was found that his blood alcohol content was 148.6mg/100ml and methamphetamine components were detected in his urine, indicating that he drove under the influence of alcohol and drugs. It was determined that the property loss of the crashed vehicles totaled 24,147 yuan.
