China News Service, Suzhou, February 1 (reported by Zhou Jianlin and Huang Zigang) - On the morning of February 1st, a major fire broke out at a factory in the Suzhou Industrial Park. During the firefighting efforts, one firefighter from the Special Operations Team Three of the Suzhou Fire Brigade perished while another was injured. Fortunately, all the trapped employees were successfully rescued without any casualties.
According to Political Commissar Chen Yueqiu of the Suzhou Fire Brigade, the burning building was a large-scale electronics factory, with the fire starting on the second floor in the plastic workshop cleaning section. At the time of the fire, many employees were trapped inside the factory. After the arrival of the Special Operations Team Three, they quickly initiated firefighting and evacuation actions. After successfully evacuating more than 130 employees in the first instance, Squad Leader Sun Maohui and soldier Wang Haojun re-entered the scene for further search and rescue. The fire scene was filled with dense smoke and toxic gases, with zero visibility, and there was a risk of roof collapse. During the rescue process, Sun Maohui bravely sacrificed his life when encountering danger, while Wang Haojun was injured.
The captain of the Special Operations Team Three, who participated in the rescue operation, told reporters that although Sun Maohui was relatively young, he was already a key player within the team due to his expertise and excellent performance, having been awarded third-class merit in both 2009 and 2010. In every rescue mission, Sun Maohui was fearless and always took the lead. This fire occurred in the plastic workshop, where the scene was shrouded in thick smoke, and the rescue operations were carried out almost entirely in the dark. After successfully evacuating the last three trapped individuals, Sun Maohui once again rushed into the fire to ensure that every person was saved, unfortunately meeting danger and sacrificing his life. Sun Maohui was born in December 1989 and hailed from Laiyang, Shandong Province. He joined the Communist Youth League in October 2007 and enlisted in December 2008. As the squad leader of Class Four in the Special Operations Team Three of the Wujiang City Fire Brigade, he held the rank of Corporal. He had participated in over 500 firefighting and rescue missions and was twice awarded third-class merit.
Public records show that the Suzhou factory where this fire occurred, Dayun Precision Industry Co., Ltd., was established in December 2005, covering an area of 150 mu (approximately 10 hectares). It officially began operations in April 2006 and moved to the new factory premises in December 2006.

Upon receiving the alarm, the Special Operations Team Three of the Suzhou Fire Brigade immediately arrived at the scene and swiftly commenced firefighting and personnel evacuation efforts.
