At around 10 a.m. on July 9, 2008, more than forty full members of the public security bureau compulsory detoxification center in Shanghai, including anti-drug experts, led by Commissar Jiang and Director Li, paid a visit to the National Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Pharmaceutical Engineering Technology Research Center and other public technical platforms with high respect for the treasure of national TCM. The leader of the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission and Director Zhu Zhenghong of the Shanghai TCM Science and Technology Industry Promotion Center gave an enthusiastic speech at the welcoming ceremony. He expressed heartfelt gratitude and warm welcome to the leaders and experts of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau Compulsory Detoxification Center who had come to Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park under the scorching sun to celebrate the 87th anniversary of the founding of the great Chinese Communist Party and to jointly build a harmonious relationship through police-civilian celebration activities. At the same time, he congratulated the Shanghai Public Security Bureau Compulsory Detoxification Center, which was the only compulsory detoxification center in Shanghai rated as a national first-class compulsory detoxification center by the Ministry of Public Security. It had once received a second-class merit award for the group and a third-class merit award for the group, and had won many honors such as "Striving for Popular Satisfaction Advanced Group" and "Shanghai Anti-Drug Work Advanced Collective". He hoped that both sides would strengthen cooperation, enhance contact, closely cooperate, actively carry out scientific research, and jointly strive for the great cause of benefiting the country and its people in drug control and detoxification.

Director Shen Pingniang, the director of the National TCM Pharmaceutical Engineering Technology Research Center and General Manager of Shanghai TCM Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd., introduced the basic situation of the national TCM modernization public technical platform and made an academic report on "Advantages and Characteristics of TCM in Detoxification." In her report, Director Shen introduced some major research projects of the national TCM modernization public technical platform in recent years and the preparatory work for the upcoming major scientific research projects. She listed the major discoveries and results of TCM in detoxification, which were highly praised and approved by the officers and experts of the detoxification center.

After the meeting, the officers and anti-drug experts of the Shanghai Compulsory Detoxification Center visited the pilot base of the "National TCM Pharmaceutical Engineering Technology Research Center," the "Shanghai TCM Innovation Park Laboratory," and the "Shanghai TCM Museum" in batches with great interest.

Through the visit and study, the officers and anti-drug experts of the detoxification center deeply realized that the TCM, as a treasure of national medicine, has unique efficacy and characteristics in detoxification. Especially in preventing relapse and improving delayed symptoms, it may be better than the current Western medicine and has no addictive properties. The detoxification treatment has a longer stable cycle, and the therapeutic effect is relatively stable. Developing and applying TCM in detoxification is imperative.
