On December 26th last year, the special investigation team decided to arrest members of his gang. Around 4 PM that afternoon, police officers learned that the suspects were driving four stolen motor vehicles along the old road from Kunming to Qujing heading towards Qujing. The special investigation team immediately organized police forces to pursue and capture them. When investigators chased the suspects to a section near Xiao Xinja on the 320 National Highway in Songming, the suspect vehicles attempted to forcibly break through a police checkpoint upon noticing the police presence. They resisted arrest by throwing stools, hammers, steel pipes, and other items at the pursuing vehicles, causing varying degrees of damage to two vehicles belonging to the special investigation team. The suspects then fled amidst the chaos.
Upon further review, besides solving the major case of robbing bank customers, the police also uncovered that a criminal gang led by Cui had recently stolen four motor vehicles in the Kunming area. Using these stolen vehicles, they committed two robbery cases and three snatch theft cases by following bank customers in the city. Further investigations revealed that the criminal investigation detachment, addressing the situation of technical lock-picking home invasions in Kunming, arrested seven men of the Guizhou Yanhe ethnicity, including Zhang, in areas such as Honghegu Residential Complex in Guandu District. A large amount of stolen goods was seized on the spot. It has now been determined that since last month, the suspects have committed nine cases of technical lock-picking home invasions in Yongchang, Chuanfang areas, and Guanshang areas.
Currently, the case involving the robbery of bank customers is still under further investigation.

After the incident occurred, it drew high attention from both municipal and district-level public security bureaus. At 2:25 PM that day, Kunming police held a special investigation meeting. Attendees said that the meeting was chaired by Deputy Director Yang Jinsong of the Kunming Municipal Public Security Bureau's criminal investigation division. The meeting established a special investigation team with Yang Jinsong as the leader, promptly mobilizing police officers to conduct investigations and interviews.
On December 8th last year, at around 11 AM, a major robbery case occurred in the jurisdiction of the Qianwei Police Station in Xishan District. The 64-year-old victim, Mr. Shi, and his wife went to Jin Yuan Branch of a certain bank to withdraw 307,000 yuan. On their way back home via electric scooter, near Nanba Primary School, they were forced to stop by a mini-bread van. Several people jumped out of the vehicle and snatched the money from the elderly man...
Evening Post reporters learned yesterday that within just 20 days, Kunming police successfully dismantled this group of thieves and robbers, arresting ten suspects in total. They solved two cases of robbing bank customers, three cases of motor vehicle snatch thefts, and four cases of motor vehicle thefts. Five vehicles used for committing crimes, seven sets of fake motor vehicle license plates, and a large number of steel pipes, axes, and knives used as tools for crime were seized.
The police followed leads and captured ten accomplices.
On December 27th, after learning that two suspects had escaped to Malong County in Qujing, the special investigation team immediately pursued them. At 2 PM that afternoon, the suspects Zhang and Cui were captured on the road near Mayi Village in Guohe Town, Malong County. At 3:30 PM, another two suspects appeared in the Fubao Culture City area in Guandu District. The special investigation team surrounded them and fired warning shots. The suspects drove recklessly to escape, but eventually, their vehicle was forced into a small road in Liu Jia Fubao Village, compelling them to abandon the car and flee on foot. At around 1 AM, the police arrested one suspect in the old village of Chuangfang in Xishan District. At 10 AM on December 28th, several suspects were captured in Juzhi Road Square in Guandu District, and with the cooperation of the Liupanshui police in Guizhou, another main suspect Peng was arrested.
According to reports, during the investigation and interviews conducted by the special investigation team, a suspicious silver-gray Wuling Rongguang mini-bread van was discovered in the old village of Chuangfang. The vehicle was registered with the license plate Yun A980CT, but upon checking, it was found that the license plate did not match the vehicle type. The special investigation team sent pictures of the vehicle with this license plate, obtained from surveillance footage on the Ten-Mile Long Street on December 8th, to the image analysis department of the criminal investigation team for comparison. It was found that the two vehicles shared identical characteristics in three aspects: overall vehicle features, inspection marks, bumper damage location, and wheel hub design. Thus, it was confirmed that this mini-bread van was precisely the vehicle driven by the suspects during the crime.
Through examination of the vehicle abandoned by the suspects, the police identified a suspect surnamed Cui. The police stated that this man’s former name was Cui Jinda, from Yangchong Group, Naxiu Village, Xin Yao Township, Liuzhi Special Zone, Guizhou Province, with a history of drug use. Through nearly two weeks of meticulous investigation, the special investigation team basically grasped the personnel situation of Cui’s gang.
The abandoned vehicle provided crucial clues for solving the case.
